Welcome to a treasure trove of finely crafted collectibles, designed by award winning Caribbean gourd artist Andrea Jansen.
Fine gourd art is finally coming into its own. Once used solely for utilitarian purposes such as water carriers and ceremonial vessels, these gourds are now being taken to a higher level and decorated as never before. The type of gourd I use is from the calabash tree found here on the island of Puerto Rico, called an higüera. Its delicate looking shell is misleading; it is hard, dense and solid, and allows me to design and carve many shapes not possible with vine-grown gourds. (See What's the Difference?)

Here's a brief overview of the site: gourd art for sale are in the Gift Shop, including
a page dedicated to Gifts Under $100. Collections of earlier works are organized on the Gallery pages, and Eco-lamps,my bit for the environment, just may surprise you. Living and working on a boat is the inspiration for much of what I paint (take a peek into an Artist's life in the Caribbean). And just added: Un-gourdly Art, for my plates, paintings and other non-gourd art. Whether you're interested in fine art collectibles, home decorations, or gifts for yourself or others, you're sure to find at least one thing that makes you go, "ooh..."

Please take your time, and thank you for visiting.

I created and maintain my own site, but I'm definitely electronically-challenged. Therefore, there's not much in the way of bells and whistles, but there is some really nice art. The Gallery pages, with photos of some of my previous work, are organized into categories. If you're not sure where to begin, just click on a photo below to start your treasure hunt...
